Politics Resources for Schools
As an organisation that cares about the wellbeing and education of young people, we believe it is important for them to gain knowledge and understanding of political ideas and concepts. This includes taking an interest in local, regional, national and international political processes and institutions as part of citizenship education.
We aim to use our resources as a way of developing skills in critical thinking, decision-making and debating in order to encourage them to explore social and political issues critically. Additionally, we want to encourage young people to make a positive contribution to society through involvement with the institutions, problems and practices of democracy, thereby fostering higher levels of political knowledge in a community context.
It is also vital that young people can establish a connection between what they are learning on a personal level and how it links to civic and political engagement. For example, there is more value in a lesson on personal finance and financial services if it is directly linked to a programme on public finance and economic decision making.
