Occasions
There are a variety of special occasions, holidays and festivals that are celebrated around the world. They include religious festivals, customs and various cultural celebrations.
Certain special days are observed in much of the world such as New Year, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. Other occasions are specific to certain geographical regions, religions or cultures such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest, Eid, the Holi Festival etc.
It is interesting to examine the diverse international customs and traditions and to look at the similarities and differences. Diversity is a wonderful thing and rather than being suspicious of differences based on race, nationality, colour or creed, we should use it as an opportunity to learn from one another — to celebrate our differences — whether that be values, cultures, religions or celebrations.
