World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 takes place on 10th September to promote suicide awareness and prevention. It is held annually and organised by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) with the aim of promoting worldwide action to prevent suicide. The theme for 2026 is: ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’.
Changing the Narrative
People have become more comfortable discussing suicide in recent years, but it still remains a taboo subject to many, with stigmas surrounding the issue. More needs to be done to break down these barriers.
The intention of this year’s campaign is to encourage all communities, organisations and individuals to engage in open and honest conversations on suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviour. We can all do our part to create more awareness of this serious issue and support those suffering from tragic experiences.
Suicide prevention depends on awareness of all the concerns and circumstances involved with suicide. Show your support by taking part in the campaign.
